Welcome, friends.

I’m ELATED to be sharing this with everyone after such a crazy month.

Just ONE month is how long it has been since I sat down to dinner with a friend and had a conversation about the moves I felt God, not-so-subtly, pushing me to make in my life.

I went home, post-dinner, and treated it like a normal weeknight: brushed my teeth, curled up with my pup, set my alarm, then woke up at 5:00 the next day.

I’ll spare the longwinded explanation of the events leading up to intensive sweating and heart palpitations but it involved Googling January 2019 World Race Routes – then stumbling upon what would become the route I’ve been gifted the opportunity to go on.

Stepping backwards a little, 2017 was one of the most difficult years of my life but also one of the most rewarding (that tends to be the case for most difficult seasons). In my application for this crazy little adventure, I phrased it as a time where all the self-recognized identities I had so tightly clung to were stripped away from me one-by-one. Of course, I had absolutely no idea what God was leading me to.

So what exactly was God leading me to? (aka “Allison, what are you talking about?”)

Short and sweet, I will be living out of a lil ol backpack for roughly a year, traveling to 11 countries in 11 months, getting to tell people who Jesus is and what he’s done for us.

When I got the acceptance call for this Expedition Route, it knocked the air clean outta me. I would be going on a mission trip FOR A YEAR. So many emotions followed this but the ones that have lingered all remind me that this is exactly what I’m supposed to be doing.

I’ll end here for my first post – if you don’t know me, you don’t know that I’ve felt a pull to go to Southeast Asia for many years. I thought this was a call to teach English abroad and I’ve researched 10 million different opportunities in the last year to get there. Little did I know that God was sitting back, telling me “I’ll get you where you want to go – but it’s going to be a little different than you think….”

How lucky are we to have a God that knows our heart and knows exactly what we need?

I will be posting a video with a little more information on this journey in the coming week. I’m so happy to be sharing this with all who stumble upon this link and prayers for focus, strength, growth for this team as well as confidence in the ability to make this happen financially are so so welcomed.

Love you all, can’t wait to share more soon!
